Cho-Oyu Expedition (51 Days)

Cho- Oyu is the 6th highest mountain in the world and situated in Mahalangur Himalayan ranage in Everest border with China and Nepal. Climbing on Cho-Oyu requires good physical condition, careful preparation and high level fitness because It’s path are technically difficult. The first conquered on Cho-Oyu was made an expedition led by the Eric Shipton and Ang Phuri Sherpa became the first Nepalese national to summit Cho-Oyu.  Alpinist Dyhrefurth and Eric Shipton declared this peak as 6th highest in the world. The first death occurred on the peak during this expedition. After a highly disputed claim in 1964, the peak didn’t see any more ascents until the late 70’s.

The golden decade of mountaineering since 1950 many mountaineers attempts the Cho-Oyu.  They were Eric Shipton,Tichy and Jochler, Reinhold Messner,  Jerzy Kukuczka and more.  Reinhold Messner who climbed all the 14 peaks of 8,000m including the Everest without oxygen.

Camp I (6400m)

We can reach here in 4-6 Hrs via an initial walk up the Gyabrag Glacier, up a steep of to a broad so now shoulder and our first high camp.

Camp II (7100m)

the most challenging climbing on this route, fixing the rope for safe ascent, a steep of 50m ice wall, out  of camp I we follow the snow ridge.

Camp III (7500m)

About in 4 hrs we reach our III camp on the easier ground, at this altitude there a tremendous sense of effort to gain further height.

to attain Cho Oyo’s grand summit plateau it takes about 6-9 hours, this is the summit day, the route takes us moderately easy snow and rock, this symptom of good weather and altitude can stand in our way of victory (conquering) this grand 8000m peak.

Day 10 Machermo to Gokyo
Day 11 Gokyo to Cho-Oyu Base Camp
Day 12 Rest day at Cho-Oyu BC for preparations
Day 13-42 Climbing periods
Day 43 Cleaning up Base camp
Day 44 Base Camp to Gokyo
Day 45 Gokyo to Dole
Day 46 Dole to Namche Bazaar
Day 47 Namche Bazaar to Phakding
Day 48 Phakding to Lukla
Day 49 Flight from Lukla to Kathmandu
Day 50 Rest day at Kathmandu
