Our Kathmandu to Lhasa Tour covers a vast tract of this ancient land, crossing spectacular passes, through unforgettable landscapes and heading right into the spiritual heart of the country; Lhasa. Over ten days, our tour manages to take in a little bit of everything of the attractions this country has to offer.

The drive from Kathmandu to Lhasa Tour, Friendship Highway’; along the way stopping at quietly enchanting Buddhist monasteries like Sakya, Shalu , Natang and remote villages untouched by modern civilization. A generous one night will be spent at Ronbuk, time to take in some unforgettable views of the highest mountain on the planet. The road also passes through quiet Nyalam, the historical Shigatse and Gyantse, famed for the Gyantse Kumbum. And that’s all before the road even comes into Lhasa itself; the spiritual heart of this country. For centuries the home of the Dalai Lamas and the target of devout pilgrimages, you could spend happy weeks lost in Lhasa’s historical and spiritual treasures. Your safety is of paramount concern whilst traveling with Nepal Assemble. Please note that your leader has the authority to amend or cancel any part of the itinerary if it is deemed necessary due to safety concerns. Every effort will be made to keep to the above itinerary; however, as this is adventure travel in remote mountain region, we cannot guarantee it! Weather conditions, health condition of a member, unexpected natural disasters, etc., can all contribute to changes in the itinerary. The leader will try to ensure that the trip runs according to plan, but please be prepared to be flexible if required.

Day 01 –Arrival in Kathmandu & Transfer to Hotel

Detail Itinerary

Day 01:  Arrival in Kathmandu & Transfer to Hotel
You will be welcomed by the boss of company at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu (1300m).After completing your custom formalities (Visa, etc) pick up your luggage and look for our company display board at the arrival gate. You will be transferred to Hotel. After check in, you will visit our office; meet your trekking guide as well as other participants. Later in the evening we will organize a “Welcome Dinner” at an excellent Tourist Restaurant where you will enjoy a fine meal. Overnight at hotel.

Day 02: Full day Sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley and trek preparation
Full day of sightseeing in the very famous capital, Kathmandu. We will be visiting of the famous heritage sites in Kathmandu Nepal.

Morning

 We will start from your hotel by a morning walk in the blocked alleyways of Kathmandu. Your first contact with the smiling Nepalese people. We begins to cross the nice area of Thamel, full of nice shops, bars and restaurants.

We will see during this walk many temples and stupas: it will be for you the beginning of religious lessons, making the difference between Buddhists stupas and Hindu temples. You will discover with a great surprise how these two religions live together.

We will make a stop at Thahiti Tole, then in front of Kathesimbhu stupa. Always meeting statues and local shops (suits, spices, incenses, and so on) and listening the noise of bells (and of horns), we will see Asan Tole with wonderful Hindu temples.Then Indra Chowk and Pyaphal Tole.After 2 hours of walk and of wonder, we will arrive at Durbar Square.All the most important monuments of the city are in this area. You will be filled with wonder by all these numerous such majestic and so ancient temples registered in the Heritage of the UNESCO. It is possible to spend hours, sat on the walk of one of these monuments, admiring architecture, considering the animation of places and dreaming.We will take lunch at Durbar Square in the top of a restaurant, with a great plunging view.

Afternoon,You will begin the afternoon by another walk in the streets of Kathmandu, to look at the real face of this city, with local buildings and narrow streets. Then we will arrive at Swayambunath Stupa (Monkey Temple). It is said that Swayambunath Stupa is more than 2,000 years old, and it symbolizes knowledge. At the summit of this hill, the painted eyes on all four sides symbolize the all-seeing power of Buddha. It is an important Buddhist place where pilgrims from all over the world come.From this place we can have a wonderful panoramic view on all the capital. So great at the end of the day, with the sunset. We will come back hotel by bus. Evening: Time for you to prepare the trek and we introduce in front of you our crew members. Dinner at hotel. Overnight at hotel.

Day 03 – Kathmandu – Zhangmu (2300M)
You check out of the hotel early in the morning and leave straight for Kodari which is the Nepal China Border. After clearing all the immigration formalities, you will cross the friendship bridge into the city of Zhangmu. Our representative will meet you at the Tibet side from where you will be driven further to Zhangamu and transferred to the hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 04 – Zhangmu – New Tingri ( 4300M)
After your first mouthwatering Tibetan breakfast, we head straight for Xeger. En route we will cross Nyalam Pass and Lulung Pass. The journey is bit lengthy and takes around 8 hrs continuous driving to reach there but this 250 km stretch will not at all be boring or tiring. The stretch is one of the most scenic in entire Tibet. Get the best views of Himalayas and even Mt. Everest that will leave you spell bound. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel.

Day 05 – New Tingri – Shigatse ( 3840M)
This day too is set for long drive, you will be taken in a coach to Shigatse which is around 244 km away. It will take around 8 hrs to cover the entire distance. On arrival, check into the hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel

Day 06 – Shigatse – Gyantse (3950M)
Early Morning, after breakfast, visit the famous Tashilhunpo Monastery and the free market at Shigatse. After that drive towards Gyantse which is around 90 km away. Estimated time for the journey is around 2 hrs. You will reach Gyantse by afternoon and directly check in at the hotel. There explore the Palkhor Monastery and Kumbum Stupa. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 07 – Gyantse – Lhasa (3490M)
Wake up to the rising sun and get ready for another day of sight full journey to the Capital City of Lhasa. Passing through Karo Pass, Kamba Pass and Yamdruk Lake, we reach Lhasa after a journey of 8 hrs and covering an area of 260 km. Transfer to the hotel for the overnight stay.

Day 08 – In Lhasa
After the best Tibetan cuisine breakfast, brace yourself up for witnessing few of the most beautiful architectural wonders in entire Tibet. Visit the famous Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and the busy Barkhor street. Back to the hotel for a refreshing night sleep.

Day 09 – In Lhasa
The day is again set aside for sightseeing in the wonderful Lhasa City. Explore the fascinating sites of Sera Monastery, Drepung Monastery and Norbulingka. If time remains, you can always go out looking for unique Tibetan items like Thangka Paintings and famous Tibetan knife. Return back to hotel for the overnight stay.

Day 10 – Lhasa – Kathmandu
Early morning you will be taken to airport for boarding the CA 407 flight to Kathmandu. The flight leaves at 1035 hrs local time and reaches Kathmandu at 0935 hrs Kathmandu time. Transfer to the hotel, check in and rest for some time. Lunch at Kathmandu, Afternoon is separated for your shopping, and preparation for next day departure. Our office provides you “Farewell Dinner” including with yours crew members. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 11:  Departure

You are saying good bye to the mountains as your journey in Nepal comes to an end today! There is nothing to do but trade emails with your travel companions and organize your photos. You will be transferred to the Airport before 2 hours of flight with nice farewell. On your way home you’ll have plenty of time to plan your next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal.
