Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu, Welcome at airport and transfer to Hotel.
Day 02: Sightseening in Heritage site of Kathmandu.
Day 03: Fly to Lhasa. Arrive Lhasa, transfer to Hotel
Day 04: Sightseeing tour in Lhasa: Visit – Drepung monastery , Jokang temple and Barkhor Bazaar – In Lhasa
Day 05: Sightseeing tour in Lhasa: Visit – Potala, Norbulingka summer palace and Sera monastery – In Lhasa
Day 06: Depart via Yamdrok Lake to Gyangtse, Visit Gyangtse Kubum Stupa & Pelkhor Chode Monastery
Day 07: Drive Gyangtse to Shigatse, En route visit Shalu Monastery, visit Tashilhunpo Monastery and Shigatse Market
Day 08: Drive Shigatse to Shegar, En route visit Sakya Monastery

Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu, Welcome at airport and transfer to Hotel.

Day 02: Sightseening in Heritage site of Kathmandu.

Day 03: Fly to Lhasa. Arrive Lhasa, transfer to Hotel
Upon arrival in Lhasa, your local guide and driver will meet you at Gonggar airport, drive about 65km to Lhasa city, check in the hotel. Please go slow and have a good rest today in order to acclimatize the high altitude. It is helpful to drink more water.

Day 04: Sightseeing tour in Lhasa: Visit – Drepung monastery , Jokang temple and Barkhor Bazaar – In Lhasa
Visit the Drepung monastery. This is the largest monastery in the world and once housed 10,000 monts and nuns. It was built in 1419 and the second, third and fourth Dalai Lamas lived and were entombed here. A visit to the kitchen of this monastery is a must. Look out for the washing machine in which the monks mix their butter tea. Next stop will the Jokhang Temple. This is the holiest shrine in Tibet and houses a golden statue of the Buddha. You then visit to the Barkhor Bazaar outside the Jokhang monastery. This is the bustling flea market where you can buy souvenirs.

Day 05: Sightseeing tour in Lhasa: Visit – Potala, Norbulingka summer palace and Sera monastery – In Lhasa
Visit to the Potala Palace is awesom. The Palace of the Dalai Lama, a treasure of Tibetan culture was, till 1965, the seat of both religion and politics in Tibet. It was built in the 7th century by Tsongtsen Gampo as a fort and later renovated by the 5th Dalai lama in the 17th century to its present specifications. Visit to the Narbulingka, the winter Palace of the Dalai lama built in the 18th century would be the next attraction in your sightseeing tour. Next you will visit to Sera Monastery, a preserved monastery of white-washed walls and golden roofs.

Day 06: Depart via Yamdrok Lake to Gyangtse, Visit Gyangtse Kubum Stupa & Pelkhor Chode Monastery
After breakfast drive up to Kambala pass which is over 5000m, from there you will have a glimpse of Yamdrok-tso there, which is one of the three holy lakes in Tibet. Then keep driving to Gyantse, visit the famous Kumpum stupa (Pelhkhor Choede Temple) in Gyantse, the most stunning architectural wonder in Tibet.

Day 07: Drive Gyangtse to Shigatse, En route visit Shalu Monastery, visit Tashilhunpo Monastery and Shigatse Market
In the morning visit Tashilunpo Monastery, then we drive to Shigatse for overnight there.

Day 08: Drive Shigatse to Shegar, En route visit Sakya Monastery
En route visit Sakya monastery. It is of typical Yuan Dynasty style of resembling castles. There are a lot of historical articles in the monastery, among them are found a lot of the imperial certificates, gold signets, crowns, costumes bestowed by the Yuan Dynasty emperors. It has over 10,000 volumes of Tibetan books on astronomy, medicine, calligraphy, and history. So the Sakya monastery enjoys the title ‘the second Dun Huang Cave.

Day 09: Drive to Zhangmu, En route visit Milerapa Cave, Zhangmu Hotel
Drive to Zhangmu. Zhangmu town is located in the border with Nepal is a very different place from the other ones you see on the way. All year round it is green with rains most of the time. You will think it is out of Tibet , as there are Sherpa people and Nepalese speaking a different language here.

Day 10: Walk across friend ship Bridge and drive back to Kathmandu
Drive to the Friendship Bridge of the border and go through the China customs. Our guide will see you off at the Kodari of the Tibetan side. Transport would be waiting for you to pick up and transer to Kathmandu which is 114km, about 4 hours drive.

Day 11: Sightseeing in Kathmandu and rest.

Day 12: Departure to your home country.

Important informations:
01. We need scan copy of your passport’s photo page at least 20 days prior to your tour departure to process permit and visa. Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu opens for visa on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

02. If you are entering Tibet via Kathmandu as a gateway city, do not bring Chinese visa from your home country since Tibet need special visa issued from Kathmandu. We shall do all the visa formalities.

03. Air China operates flight between Lhasa – Kathmandu vice versa 2 times a week (Tuesday and Saturday) round the year. Flight number for Kathmandu to Lhasa is CA 408 and normally leave Kathmandu at 1045am arriving at Lhasa at 1405 pm, similarly from Lhasa to Kathmandu would be CA 407 departing at 1040am arriving Kathmandu at 0945am.

04. There are 2 Gateway cities to enter Tibet, one is from Kathmandu, the other one is from Chengdu which is possible to have connection flight from Beijing, Bangkok, Hongkong.

05. If you are entering Tibet via Kathmandu, tour date must be plan according to Chinese embassy visa working days and Air China flight schedule.

06. We need original passport of all participants physically at least for one full day to issue Tibet Visa in one of the visa working day.

07. In monsoon season part of the road from Lamasangu to Kodari can be distrupted due to landslide. In such situation it is often necessary to walk for several hours. In winter snow can disrupt the road that goes through narrow pass from Zangmu to Nyalam.
