Mustang Teri-La Pass Trek (30 Days)
Mustang Teri-La Pass Trek. This trekking takes us on a fascinating journey through an area that was until recently closed to foreigners. An exceptional landscape with orange colored rock walls, varicolored canyons and impressive forms of erosion characterize this desert like alpine terrain in the Mustang. This fantastic trekking destination is located on the border of Tibet and with its ancient villages, age-old castles, antique palaces and Tibetan monasteries it offers the visitors a comprehensive insight into the centuries old Tibetan-Buddhist culture. The visit of Mustang is followed by a pioneer trekking over the so far seldom crossed Teri La pass (5577m) to the hidden valleys of Naar Phu, a new trekking area that was opened for foreigners only in 2002. This pioneer trek through forlorn alpine territory combined with the challenges of the variegated terrain provides the participants with an authentic expedition experience. On our trek through the diversified landscapes of Mustang and Naar Phu we have a chance to get in touch with the hospitable inhabitants of this Tibet like region in Nepal. Due to the severe visitor restrictions Naar Phu and Mustang remain still little frequented trekking areas with people that have so far been able to maintain their traditional way of life.

16th Day, Over the Teri La High Camp, 5100m
At day break we begin our ascent to high camp. The route leads through steep scree, between chiseled rocks and over a long moraine to the Teri La high plateau. At the summit we take a rest and admire the view on the surrounding peaks and glaciers of the Damodar Himal massif. The impressive monolith on the Teri La ridge is a distinctive landmark in this isolated mountain area. After days of reclusion in the mountains we deserve to be pampered, either by enjoying a drink and a good meal on a terrace in one of Thamel’s famous roof top restaurants, with a sightseeing tour to discover Kathmandu’s past history or with a shopping spree in the city to buy presents for the family and friends at home. In the evening we savor a tasty diner in a good and cozy restaurant in Kathmandu. The final day in Kathmandu is our worst case time reserve.
